Raised out of £ 1200.00 target
Living Water Myanmar (J812N) is an amazing project which provides clean drinking water to villages and schools by constructing water tanks with local labour and collecting rainwater.
The project is run by an Australian coordinator (Rosemary Breen) and Saya Toe who organises the building of the tanks in Central Myanmar under the auspices of the Global Development Group.
This means that students no longer have to waste valuable school time collecting their drinking water from the nearest river or pond, which can take up to six hours.
The cost of a water tank is £1200, and I have given myself the target of raising that amount (which will go directly to the charity) before I go out to visit shortly. So, I will be doing the Dorney Lake Winter Half Marathon on 16th Feb. The course goes around the Dorney Lake near Windsor and neatly fits the water theme. I am getting fit for it as quickly as possible!
