Due to the spread of Covid-19 in Uganda no transport apart from bicycles are allowed(without a permit). Food prices have increased, some by 800% & all businesses are closed apart from medical & food shops. It has been a difficult time for the communities as many people rely on daily income from their businesses.
The Government have promised to support people with food at this time & the army have already been in the communities distributing food to those most in need.
At JFCC we have had women calling us asking for medical help. Most cant afford an ambulance to get medical care but at times like this there are no other alternatives. We are fundraising for medical expenses for the communities to ensure we can support them in times of need. We have a partnership with Kitante Medical Centre where women & children are able to use for free as JFCC have already put a deposit down.
We would love to increase our funds to enable more women & children with medical expenses during Covid-19.
Joy for Children and Communities is a Christian UK registered charity (charity no. 1107290) that works in Uganda. We are supporting slum development projects in Uganda, working alongside the most disadvantaged people in the poorest areas of Kampala. We are a community-led charity serving the needs of the local people through a variety of activities; weekly women's meetings, football training and child sponsorship. These provide the community with the necessary skills and knowledge to live a better quality of life. Our aim is to be inspired by the community.
