'Girls in School' project
Supporting girls education in Kibera, Nairobi
Closing date: 14 July 2024
Story
Many poor girls in developing countries are unable to reliably access sanitary products during their menstruation period which can lead to poor school attendance and reduced life chances as they miss out on their education.
We have been partnering with ICA Church, Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya to give a set of washable sanitary pads to all girls in Year 8 at two local primary schools - approximately 650 girls in 2023. We provide an engaging lesson on ‘What puberty means for me’ to boys and girls in Year 8 at both schools.
We have been invited to return to both schools in 2024 but in order to do so we need to purchase more re-usable sanitary items to distribute to each girl. All funds raised will be used to purchase products for distribution in Kenya; travel and subsistence costs are all covered personally.
If you would like to support us in this project we would really appreciate your donation. If you are a UK taxpayer please do confirm you would like to Gift Aid your donation. Thanks!
