Built in 1871, Fernilee Chapel and Graveyard has faced possible closure but now has a plan for the future. The chapel was originally built by the community for the community and desperately needs your help.
After discovering substantial repairs were needed to this listed building and the graveyard, the community came forward with ideas which led to a vision to restore and revitalise the chapel for future generations.
Plans have been confirmed to convert the old Sunday School room to a low cost holiday rental which will finance the future upkeep. The main part of the building will be adapted to become a flexible space to serve our local community including current services and introducing projects for walking, cycling, wellbeing and heritage.
Donations to Fernilee Chapel will support plans to develop and safeguard its future and maintain the graveyard so it remains a place of comfort and benefit for the community.
Thank you for your support as without it Fernilee Chapel will not exist.
Buy a Brick Fundraising Campaign
We are excited to share that we are starting work to convert the old Sunday School into a holiday let and repair this historic listed building for the community.
We have already raised £90k and require an additional £50k to complete the remainder of our aspirations. We now need your help please via this Buy a Brick Campaign to reach our £140k target.
We need your help by buying a virtual brick at £5 each via a donation on this fundraising page. We would be delighted if you bought just one or multiple bricks.
Fernilee Chapel was built 150 years ago using 10,926 Blue bricks so our aim is to try and match this with virtual brick donations raising £54,630.
Each brick bought via your generous donation will be recognised should you wish, with a big thank you and your name on our visual fundraising “Brick-ometer”.
Your donation to the Fernilee Chapel project is very much appreciated, thank you for your support.
Look forward to seeing you in our new holiday let!
