Registered Charity Number: No.1154256
We support local individuals and families in crisis who cannot afford to put food on the table, referred to us by local agencies, (such as Children & Family Centres, local primary and secondary schools, churches, hospitals, Citizens Advice, GP surgeries, in fact over 60 agencies can refer clients to us via a red foodbank voucher).
Since we started with a few food boxes in a garage in East Grinstead in December 2012, we have now helped over 7,000 people, currently averaging 30 adults & children helped per week.
As one of our volunteers wrote in December 2018:
‘Hunger doesn’t care it’s Christmas. Poverty, illness, and misfortune doesn’t come gift-wrapped. We can’t solve every problem or right every injustice. But we can lend a helping hand in a crisis’.
We operate under the auspices of the Trussell Trust, who support over 420 foodbanks over the UK.
The guidelines are for Clients to visit 3 times in any one period of a food crisis. However the local foodbank manager has some flexibility.
