Story

The Bishop of Winchester, is asking people in the Diocese of Winchester to give generously to his Christmas and Lent appeal to help Christians in the Anglican Communion during the coronavirus pandemic.

Funds will support specific Covid-19 projects in the Diocese of Winchester's Companion Link Provinces. These include projects in Myanmar and the DR Congo.

In the Diocese of Kinshasa, in the DR Congo, funds will aid the construction of a new farm in Kinzau-Mvuete, 260 miles from the capital, Kinshasa. The project aims to help tackle the economic crisis declared by the pandemic and extreme food shortages by providing a sustainable source of income for local people.

In Myanmar, funds will support the 500 Christian volunteers who have been assisting medical staff in the understaffed Covid hospitals in the city of Yangon. Funds will equip these volunteers with PPE and medicines, as well as providing safe accommodation where they can quarantine before returning to their own homes and families.

Friends of Archbishop of Canterburys Anglican Communion Fund

The Friends of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Anglican Communion Fund (FACF) is the fundraising arm of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Anglican Communion Fund (ACF).

The ACF will remember 2020 as a year during which the Church responded to a global pandemic together in unity and sent relief, sharing the love of Christ across our family of believers, and bearing witness to God’s great capacity for provision, love and hope.

Through the generosity of our supporters, the Archbishop’s Together in Unity COVID Appeal has enabled the ACF to respond swiftly to the acute needs of vulnerable communities. We have allocated over 50 grants totalling nearly £280,000 across the Communion.

Together with the Archbishop, the ACF extends its sincere gratitude to all who have participated in, and continue to support, this collective effort in so many ways. Please visit  https://bit.ly/3aEgfP4  for a personal message of thanks from Archbishop Justin Welby.
