Yay-I did the 2019 YMCA Mountain Bike Challenge
A gruelling 4-day 178 mile epic
20,000ft (over 6 km!) climbing
& 6km downhill too
Glasgow-Fort William-Inverness
via West Highland & Great Glen Ways [more accurately obstacle courses!]
1x wobbly 2nd hand bike
2x wobbly knees-1 damaged 52 yrs ago, operated on 49 yrs ago
Surgeons dont know how I walk/stand with no cruciate ligaments or joint just 53 bone frags in a bag of fluid [at the last count/MRI!]
[my answer: prayer & being sheer bloody minded]
Day1 steep rocky path
I hit big drainage ditch
It made me 'ditch' d bike
& chest-pump a big rock @30mph
Damaged my ribs, garmin watch & helmet
YES I carried on
