In 2013 ignis sent 30 volunteers to Uganda to aid EAC in its work with impoverished children in Kampala and Zirobwe. During our visit we were introduced to a street school full of wonderful children in sunflower yellow uniforms.
The school was founded in 2010 when news spread that Headmaster Mr. Kintu decided to teach 3 orphaned children for free. That number had risen to 90 by Ignis initial visit and to 180 by subsequent visits.
Following flooding in 2015 the school was badly damaged and a number of the ignis team set about to raise money to save the school from closure and protect pupils from living on the streets.
The School’s short-term survival has been assured and the project is now focused on helping them discover long-term security. We are fundraising to build a new boarding school for 200 children in the countryside of the Kampala metropolis.
It is an initiative that is very close to ignis’ hearts, thank you so much for supporting these wonderful children.
Our mission is to bring confidence and self-sustainability to orphaned and vulnerable children of East Africa by teaching modern skills, giving the opportunity of education, and enlightening through the word of God.
