Birmingham Walk for Water
Raising funds for Watsan Uganda's Bwanga Hill water and sanitation project
Closing date: 15 December 2021
Story
Please can you sponsor us as we walk 16.5 miles round the parks and canals of Birmingham on Saturday 12 June, 2021?
We are raising money for WATSAN Uganda’s project to provide improved water and sanitation to a rural community in south west Uganda called Bwanga Hill. The plan is to build rainwater harvesting tanks, provide safe access to a nearby spring, and build sturdy pit latrines to serve a school, nursery school, church and nearby homes. Can you help?

Fund raising is especially necessary in the light of the recent decimation of the UK Government’s aid budget. On 28 April, the BBC reported that funding for water, sanitation and hygiene projects is rumoured to be slashed by more than 80%. Already, an existing application from Watsan has just been rejected.

Chris - having lived in rural East Africa (and had Typhoid) I appreciate what an important cause this is. Well done on the walk. Lorna
