Story

We have completed our 150 mile (in 10 stages) Challenge Walk  and we thank all the business sponsors, LOOP(y) Walkers and supporters who are helping us to reach our target for Branches' Resettlement Services, which helps prepare residents for leaving the hostel and to remain independant in their new homes.

These are some of our most memorable images of our journey which started at Chingford in April 2018. We travelled through Chigwell, Havering-Atte-Bower, Harold Wood, Upminster, Hornchurch Country Park, Rainham Marshes, Purfleet, Crayford, Orpington, Petts Wood, Coulsdon, Banstead, Kingston upon Thames, Uxbridge, Stanmore, Elstree, Stanmore, High Barnet, Cockfosters, Enfield and back to Chingford on 1st September

22 different LOOPY Walkers participated in our epic 150 mile Challenge Walk.

Donating with give.net is really easy and completely secure. If you are a UK taxpayer, please confirm that you would like to reclaim Gift Aid on your donation. This will add 25p to every £1 you give.

Branches (Waltham Forest Churches Night Shelter)

Waltham Forest Churches Night Shelter (Branches) was founded 21 years ago when a group of local churches saw a desperate need for support and shelter to be given to single, homeless individuals, and in response to that they opened up their churches for the winter period in 1996/97.

Today, Branches provide short-term housing for 27 single men and women in their purpose-built hostel in Walthamstow, E17 24 hours/365 days a year.  They support residents and former residents, many of whom have mental health, drug and alcohol addictions, through their specialist Mental Health, Substance Misuse and Life Skills Support Workers.

Branches work to help homeless individuals get their lives back on track by re-developing the vital life-skills necessary for moving on to independent living. They also support them to re-build their self-confidence and facilitate access to training, learning and employment opportunities so that they can live successfully within and contribute to their communities.
