Welcome to my give.net fundraising page.
I have set myself a challenge to walk a million steps in 3 months, July, August and September , this is supposed to equate to 500 miles but with my little legs it's probably nearer 420! I'm raising money for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) because my two eldest granddaughters have type1 diabetes. They are now 13 and 11 and were both diagnosed around 9 years of age. They are now dependent upon their insulin pump and glucose monitor 24/7.
JDRF do amazing research and are committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for everyone in the UK with type 1, and at risk of developing it. To work towards a day when there is no more type 1.
Donating with give.net is really easy and completely secure. If you are a UK taxpayer, please confirm that you would like to reclaim Gift Aid on your donation. This will add 25p to every £1 you give. Thanks for visiting!
Type 1 diabetes is a chronic, life-threatening condition that has a life-long impact on those diagnosed with it and their families. People with type 1 diabetes rely on multiple insulin injections or pump infusions every day just to stay alive, until we find the cure. It normally strikes children and stays with them for the rest of their lives. Type 1 diabetes affects about 350,000 people in the UK, 25,000 of them children. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation exists to find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications, and is the world’s leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. At a global level JDRF volunteers and staff have been responsible for raising over £850 million to support type 1 diabetes research since the charity’s inception.
