Challenging Youth Violence
Diocese of London Lent Appeal 2021
Closing date: 30 November 2023
Story
The 2021 Lent Appeal for the Diocese of London will focus on Challenging Youth Violence.
Youth Violence includes bullying, weaponised crime, robbery, gang associated violence, and modern slavery, to name but a few. It causes ill-health, through fear, injury, and loss, affecting individuals and communities.
It can be contagious, with incidents linked in time, by place, or by the groups of people affected. It is distributed unequally across population groups and contributes to health inequalities. There are risk factors for adverse physical and mental health outcomes.
The Lent Appeal will raise awareness of Youth Violence whilst raising funds for three charities that challenge it.
RedThread: working with victims of violence in A&E departments. XLP, based at All Hallows on the Wall, and Transforming Lives for Good (TLG), which works through a network of churches.
All our partner charities assist young people to move towards a safer future.
