3 years ago we re-opened the medieval Shrine of Mair Forwyn Y Mor, Our Lady of Pen Llyn in St Peter’s Church, Pwllheli. It has been exciting to see Pilgrims once more returning to Pwllheli, attracted by the devotion of Her 7 Sorrows and experiencing her intercession.
We werecntly given a gift from a grateful pilgrim, a piece of the Veil worn by the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Foot of the Cross which is now on permanent display for pilgrims.
The original image of Our Lady of Pen Llyn has been lost to history although there is evidence that the image was used on the town seal of Pwllheli until it was destroyed in a fire in the 18th century.
We have now commissioned Simon O’Rourke to carve a new 5ft statue which we are hoping to process through the town and install in the Shrine on the 15th of August.
Donations towards the statue would be very w,come as we seek to grow the Shrine as a place of sanctuary, rest and peace for all.
