Story

My London Marathon preparation, over 6 months, has involved 5 weekly sessions through countless storms, banking 60 miles per week.  So when the lockdown led to the event’s postponement I was disappointed. With your support I was on track to raise my target £15,000 so 40 Kenyan children, with club foot condition could access life changing surgery.  So with this remarkable support already pledged, one way or another I was set on completing the marathon challenge.

Mid April, I went out to complete a 19 mile run. Remarkably, the miles ticked by and I didn’t see any reason to stop running at 19 miles! I ran the full marathon distance in 3hrs 25mins which was a full 5 minutes less than the target time I had set myself!

I intend to run in October if the London Marathon goes ahead, but express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has provided such generous support. By exceeding my target you have been instrumental in making a life-transforming difference to at least 47 Kenyan children.

Well done Andy. Congratulations on a great achievement. Yes, you must feel the tough regular training pretty well daily was worth it and to complete it on your own too without other competitors with you. Well done indeed.

Well done Andy. “When I get tired I remember those who can’t run, what they would give to have this simple gift we take for granted, so I run harder”. Affie
