We want to build on our first two summer schools for Christian and Muslim leaders-in-training.
* To fund next year's summer school (theological students can't afford much: £500 would subsidise one student).
* To develop further relationships between the Muslim and Christian colleges who send students,
* To research what is needed to improve the teaching of Islam in Christian colleges and the teaching of Christianity in Muslim colleges.
At the summer school, people preparing to work in Christian ministry, as Islamic religious teachers or in faith-based community live together, eat together, study together and laugh together for a week.
'Thank you for the best week I have spent in education! I hope the relationships we have built will last long into the future.' (Muslim participant)
'This week has been so valuable in my journey . . . I wish that everyone who was training in their faith community had a similar opportunity.' (Christian participant)
The general purpose of the Solomon Academic Trust (SAT) is to further study and research on the Muslim-Christian interface. SAT runs the Centre for Muslim-Christian Studies, an independent Christian study centre in Oxford: (1) Promoting the study of Islam among Christians; (2) Promoting the study of Christianity among Muslims; and (3) Promoting rigorous academic teaching and research on the Muslim-Christian interface. www.cmcsoxford.org.uk
