Story

Welcome to our give.net fundraising page.

BEACON are here to support those in the Bradford district who are seeking asylum. BEACON has four main projects: Hosting Project: Provides short and medium term accommodation for destitute asylum seekers in volunteers' homes. McKenzie Friends: Volunteers provide non-legal support to asylum seekers who do not have access to legal representation. CHAT Phoenix House: Friendship and refreshments for those attending Phoenix House Immigration and Asylum Tribunal Centre on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings. CHAT English club: A free English conversation club open to all non-native speakers wishing to improve their spoken English

Donating with give.net is really easy and completely secure. If you are a UK taxpayer, please confirm that you would like to reclaim Gift Aid on your donation. This will add 25p to every £1 you give. Thanks for visiting!

Bradford Ecumenical Asylum Concern

BEACON has three projects which address the injustices in the asylum system. Our Hosting Project offers accommodation in volunteer households to destitute asylum seekers who have been refused Leave to Remain: our guests cannot return to their home countries and yet they are unable to claim any benefits or work to support themselves. Our McKenzie Friends volunteers support refused asylum seekers without access to legal aid: accompanying them to appeal hearings and supporting them to gather new evidence. Our CHAT Phoenix House Project offers a friendly face and a listening ear to those waiting for their appeal to be heard at the Tribunal Centre in Thornbury, and our CHAT English Conversation Club helps non-native speakers gain confidence and combats isolation experienced by many in the asylum system.
