Story
The team are undertaking an attempt to run John O'Groats to Lands End in a 24/7 9 day relay, with each runner completing 12 half marathons.
We are running for Hope43, a supported housing community project headed up by Fishponds Baptist Church, Bristol. In partnership with the national charity Hope Into Action they aim to help those vulnerable to homelessness, or who have been homeless, to find a home in one of our two houses. Homelessness is a huge issue in Bristol and they take referrals from a range of agencies such as homeless hostels, probation, prison resettlement team and drug and drink rehabilitation centres.
Hope43 have a trained team who help support the tenants. This includes Empowerment Workers and mentors. They journey with those who Hope43 are privileged to house, helping them gradually to rebuild their lives. This includes the provision of trauma counselling, volunteering opportunities and assistance with entering into paid work.
