Anne’s first half marathon
running to remember Jamie and support Jamie's Wood
Closing date: 15 February 2022
Story
In January 2017, our amazing 22 year old nephew, Jamie, lost his life in the Norwegian mountains. He was passionate about wild beautiful places. Jamie had just graduated from Oxford and wanted to make adventure documentaries.
A group of his friends, in conjunction with the John Muir Trust, have a 5 year plan to create Jamie's Wood as part of a larger rewilding project on the Glenlude Estate in Scotland. The woodland is to remember Jamie and protect the wild places he loved. See https://jamieswood.carrd.co/
On March 8th, over thirty of Jamie's friends will run the Cambridge Half Marathon. I have also entered. I started running with Parkrun in 2018 and this will be my first half marathon. Jamie was a good runner. At the time of his death he was planning to return to film the tough Montane Spine Race along the Pennine Way.
