Project Northmoor aims to purchase and preserve 20 Northmoor Road, Oxford, as the former home of J.R.R. Tolkien and where The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were written. There is no centre dedicated to the appreciation of Tolkien’s work anywhere in the world, remarkable in the face of his ongoing relevance to culture. This house is uniquely fitted to fulfil that role.
If successful, the house will then become a centre dedicated to JRR Tolkien. We will honour his inspiration as a writer with events to encourage a new generation of authors, artists, and film makers, in person and online.
Include your name and email with your donation to receive the special Fellowship of Funders certificate and be kept in touch with our activities.
In the unlikely event that we cannot buy the property, we will still fulfil as many of our charity’s objectives as possible, running courses and events to promote the appreciation of J.R.R. Tolkien works and inspire future generations of writers and artists.
