This garden has been carefully preserved as a Christian holy site because many believe it could be the garden of Joseph of Arimathea in which Jesus was buried after His crucifixion. The Garden is owned and administered by The Garden Tomb (Jerusalem) Association, a Charitable Trust based in the United Kingdom. The association is comprised of people from many different denominational backgrounds, united by the glorious message of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The grounds of the garden were purchased in 1894 in order to preserve the site.
