AICM Coronavirus Emergency Appeal
Support vulnerable groups in Southwest Uganda affected by Covid-19
Closing date: 17 May 2022
Story
Coronavirus has impacted each and every one of us in innumerable ways. However, many of us are blessed that we can look to the the established systems of community and government to provide help to those who need it most. The situation is far more distressing in Southwest Uganda where AICM is working.
Vulnerable groups of tribespeople and rural communities in abject poverty have become even more isolated as a result of the nationwide lockdown. Coronavirus infection is a clear and present danger to these groups, but the real danger to is far more terrifying: starvation.
AICM are continuing to provide resources, pastoral support and education to these groups, but our activities have been limited by government legislation, and we fear for the young and old who we have had difficulty reaching. We are therefore working on an Emergency Relief and Recovery Fund to ensure we can work to the fullest effect to support these groups.
